Individual Mentoring, intermediate to post-MFA

2-5 pp every week or every 2 weeks, per our mutual schedules

For each exchange you will receive margin notes, a short written response, & a 30-45 minute conversation, in person or by audio/video–Skype, Facetime, whatever you like & I can use. You can then send a short response to my feedback, prior to our next exchange.

To apply, send 3-5 poems, a note about yourself as a writer & reader, & your goals.

Manuscript Consultations

For a 7pp portfolio, max 5 poems, you will receive margin notes, a short written response, & a 45-min conversation, in person or by audio/video–Skype, Facetime, whatever you like & I can use.

For a 15pp portfolio (individual poems, long poem, or sequence) you will receive margin notes, a written response, & a one hour conversation, in person or by audio/video–Skype, Facetime, whatever you like & I can use.

To apply for a portfolio consultation, send 3 pages of your work, a note about yourself as a writer & reader, & your goals.

For a chapbook or partial book manuscript, up to 40pp, you will receive a written response, margin notes on some or all poems, & a 90-minute conversation. You also can choose to talk twice, for about an hour each time–which is what I recommend for a longer manuscript.

For a book manuscript up to 80pp, you will receive a written response, margin notes on some poems, & 2 one-hour conversations.

To apply for manuscript consultation, 15-80pp, send 5-8 pages of your work, a note about yourself as a writer & reader, & your goals.

Dates & Deadlines: If we decide to work together, we will work out such business between us. It may be necessary for me to limit teaching to certain days or certain weeks, depending on other commitments, including my own writing time.

If you have a project that does not fit any of these categories, get in touch & let’s talk about it. For intermediate & advanced writers, I am particularly interesting in mentoring mixed-genre & research-based projects, including walking poetics.
